Why it's rated 5/5

Highest multi-source count (5 publishers), closest major attraction to the property, cheap compared with theme parks, and has shows, a petting zoo and a splash pad for little ones.

Overview

Gatorland is a 110-acre, family-owned wildlife park on South Orange Blossom Trail, about 25 minutes from ChampionsGate. It has been running since 1949 and is the most widely recommended non-theme-park attraction in our source set. Orlando Weekly readers voted it #2 Best Attraction That's Not a Theme Park in 2026.

What you'll see: Thousands of alligators and crocodiles. The White Gator Swamp holds rare leucistic (white) alligators. A raised boardwalk crosses the alligator breeding marsh, which doubles as a wading-bird rookery in spring. There is also a walk-in aviary, a petting zoo, the Capybara Encounter, giant tortoises, Bobcat Bayou and Panther Springs. Three live shows run daily: Gator Wrestlin', Jumparoo (gators leaping for food) and an Up-Close Encounters show. Per the official site and Experience Kissimmee, the Gator Gully Splash Park was recently renovated, so pack swimsuits.

Who it's for: Everyone from toddlers to grandparents. It is low-key and shaded in places, and it takes a half day rather than a full one. Teens can add the Screamin' Gator Zip Line or the Stompin' Gator off-road ride (extra cost).

Practical tips (official site and Go With Rosie): Buy tickets online to save $3 per ticket. Florida residents get half off at the gate with ID. The park is open daily, rain or shine, and no reservations are needed for general admission. Outside food and coolers are not allowed. Plan the day around the show schedule posted at the entrance. Mornings are cooler, and the gators are more active on mild days than at midday in summer. The Greater Gator Package ($41.99 adult / $33.99 child) bundles three extras if your kids want to feed gators and ride the train.

Good to know

No outside food or coolers. Splash pad: bring swimsuits. Zip line and off-road tours cost extra and have weight/height limits. Seasonal events include Gator Night Shine and Holiday Ho Ho Ho Down (Dec weekends). Shortest drive of any validated pick from ChampionsGate.

Worth a quick check
