Short answer

How to split a big Orlando rental between families without a fight. Real nightly rates, add-ons, a cost-split method, and a room assignment worksheet.

Money is the thing nobody wants to bring up. So let's bring it up.

A multi family vacation rental in Orlando only works if everyone agrees on the math before anyone books a flight. Here's a fair way to split SuperVilla's total, plus a room worksheet you can paste into the group chat.

The big-picture plan is in Disney with three families. Read that first. This post is the spreadsheet part. Who pays what, who sleeps where, and how to keep everyone friends by day six.

Start with the real total, not the nightly rate

The nightly rate is not the price. The total is.

At SuperVilla the booking total already includes cleaning and tax (in Osceola County that's about 13.5%: 6% state sales tax, 1.5% county surtax, 6% tourist tax). Direct rates run $280–$1,109 a night, depending on season. Then add only what you choose:

ItemCost
Pool + spa heat$35/day
Spa heat only$25/night
BBQ grill$50/stay
Security deposit$500, collected 2 days before arrival

Get your exact number from the booking page. Screenshot it. Send it to the group chat. Now everyone argues from the same number.

Three ways to split it

1. Even split per family

Simplest. Three families, three equal shares. Works when families are similar sizes.

2. Per person

Total ÷ heads. Fair when one family has six and another has two. Decide up front if babies count. (A common rule: under 2 is free.)

3. Per bedroom, weighted

King suites cost a bit more, kids' rooms a bit less. Good when one couple wants the best suite and doesn't mind paying for it.

Pick one before anyone books flights. Changing methods mid-trip is how cousins stop speaking.

Worked example (hypothetical numbers)

Say it's 7 nights at $600 (a made-up rate for the example, not a quote), three families, 16 people.

  • Rent + cleaning + tax: use your real quote. For this example call it $5,000.
  • Pool heat, 7 days: $245
  • BBQ: $50
  • Trip house total: $5,295
MethodFamily A (6)Family B (6)Family C (4)
Even$1,765$1,765$1,765
Per person ($331)$1,986$1,986$1,324

In this example that's about $47 a person a night. Your real number will be different. Price out four hotel rooms for the same week before you decide that's a lot.

The $500 deposit? One person puts it on a card. Everyone chips in, or agrees whoever caused damage covers it. Write that down.

A few tips:

  • Put each family's kids near their parents. Encanto shares a bath with Master Suite 3. Perfect for a toddler family.
  • Star Wars and Harry Potter share a Jack-and-Jill. Give them to cousins who like each other.
  • Family with one older kid? Master Suite 2 has a twin bunk next to the king.
  • Rotate the Frozen slide room if every kid wants it. They will.

Full bed details are on the house page.

The costs people forget

  • Groceries. Assign a shopper per day, split receipts weekly.
  • Park tickets. Each family pays its own. Don't pool these.
  • Rental cars. SuperVilla is 14 miles from Magic Kingdom and 28 from MCO. Two or three cars for three families usually works, and the community caps you at 4.
  • Resort fun. The Retreat Club is a 3-minute walk. See Retreat Club vs. Oasis Clubhouse.

What guests say

Hannah brought a family of 17, ages 1 to 52, and wrote: "To say our family of 17 had a blast is an understatement!!!!" Jen stayed with three families, ages 10 to 50s, and called it "the big house." Their words, on the reviews page. SuperVilla is at 4.96 over 147.

For itinerary ideas, go back to Disney with three families. It pairs with this one.

Questions people ask

How do families usually split a vacation rental?

Three common ways: an even split per family, per person, or weighted by bedroom. Pick one before booking.

Does the SuperVilla booking total include cleaning and tax?

Yes. Cleaning and tax are included in the booking total you see on the booking page.

What extra costs should we budget for?

Optional pool and spa heat ($35/day), spa-only heat ($25/night), and a BBQ grill ($50/stay). There's also a $500 security deposit, collected 2 days before arrival.

How many families fit in one house?

SuperVilla sleeps 18 across 8 bedrooms and 16 beds, which comfortably fits two to three families.

Is a multi-family rental cheaper than hotels?

Often, for big groups, but compare your real quote. One house total split across families versus four or five hotel rooms is the honest test. The house adds a kitchen, a private pool, and a living room you all share.
