Fun, close, open until midnight, with 100+ hands-on exhibits. But it is pricey and closer to an entertainment center than a museum. Good for a rainy evening with tweens.
Overview
WonderWorks is impossible to miss on International Drive: the building looks as if it was flipped upside down and dropped onto a warehouse. Inside are three floors of hands-on "edutainment" exhibits, about 25 minutes from ChampionsGate.
Highlights: A hurricane shack with 70+ mph winds, an earthquake café simulator, a giant bed of nails, a bubble lab, the Wonder Coaster (design-your-own simulator), a space zone with a mock shuttle cockpit, illusion rooms and anti-gravity puzzles. The indoor ropes course and 4D theater are included. XD Motion rides and laser tag are extras or combo options. Next door, the Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show is ticketed separately.
Who it's for: Kids around 6-14 and teens. Toddlers have less to do, and adults will enjoy it with kids rather than on their own.
Practical tips (official site): Open daily 9 a.m.-midnight, which makes it one of the few late-night family options. Expect 2-3 hours. Buy online. Evenings after about 7 p.m. are often quieter than rainy afternoons, when everyone has the same idea. Parking is paid in the lots nearby or at Pointe Orlando.
Pairs well with: A rainy I-Drive day with SEA LIFE (#7) or Crayola (#10), or dinner on I-Drive afterwards.
Good to know
Late hours. Paid parking nearby. Laser tag, XD rides and dinner show cost extra.
Still being confirmed with the venue:
- Which exhibits are currently operating
- Parking cost
