A world-class Tiffany collection, including the Tiffany Chapel, at a bargain price. Niche appeal for kids, but a perfect pairing with the Winter Park boat tour.
Overview
The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, on Park Avenue in Winter Park, holds the most comprehensive collection anywhere of work by Louis Comfort Tiffany: leaded-glass windows and lamps, jewelry, pottery, paintings and furniture.
The highlight: The Tiffany Chapel, a glittering Byzantine-revival interior of glass mosaic and leaded glass that Tiffany created for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. It was later rescued and reassembled here. Galleries also hold large pieces from Laurelton Hall, Tiffany's Long Island estate, including the Daffodil Terrace, plus American art pottery and paintings.
Who it's for: Teens and adults, art and design lovers, and anyone who enjoys beautiful craftsmanship. Children under 12 get in free, and many like the colors. Expect 1-1.5 hours.
Practical tips (official site): Open Tuesday-Saturday 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday 1-4 p.m. Closed Monday. Admission is low and is free on Friday evenings, 4-8 p.m., November to April. During the holidays the museum also lights its Tiffany windows in Central Park. Buy timed tickets online or at the door. Street parking on Park Avenue and nearby garages. No photography in some galleries.
Pairs well with: The Winter Park Scenic Boat Tour (#2), three blocks away. Do the boat first, then the museum and lunch on Park Avenue.
