The classic Florida airboat ride through real wetlands with gators and birds, 40 minutes from the property. Somewhat touristy and noisy, but very memorable for kids.
Overview
Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures runs airboat rides into the wetlands and marsh at the south end of the Lake Tohopekaliga system. Per our verification, the main operation is at the Southport location (2001 E. Southport Rd., Kissimmee), about 40 minutes from ChampionsGate. Phase 1 had listed a different address.
The experience: A Coast Guard-certified captain drives a flat-bottom airboat across open water and through grassy marsh. Expect alligators, great blue herons, egrets, ospreys, sandhill cranes and often bald eagles. Standard rides last about 30 minutes. Longer or private tours and night tours (when gators' eyes shine in flashlight beams) are also offered. The site also has a small animal exhibit and a gift shop.
Who it's for: All families with kids old enough to wear ear protection and sit still. Toddlers may find the engine noise scary; headphones are provided. Teens and adults love the speed.
Practical tips: Book online to secure a time, especially on weekends and holidays. Prices "from $34" depend on the ride; the standard adult day ride is around $41 plus tax. Rides run in light rain but are suspended for lightning. Wear sunglasses and a hat that won't fly off, and bring a light layer on winter mornings because it gets cold at speed. Mornings and late afternoons bring more active wildlife.
Pairs well with: Twin Oaks Conservation Area (#19) for a nature-themed Kissimmee day, or Gatorland (#1).
